Eight of Swords

The Eight of Swords is a card of anxiety and creating your own self-made prison. A woman stands in a swampy patch of land at the foot of the castle, secluding herself on the undesirable terrain. Not only does she seclude herself, but she is surrounded by swords as well as being blindfolded and loosely bound. Actually, she isn’t really surrounded by the swords but clearly could walk forward if she weren’t so afraid to do so.

Likewise, that which binds her appears very loose and probably escapable even without the assistance of all of those sharp swords around her. Yet she chooses to remain fixed and stagnant in her current position. The Eight of Swords often indicates debilitating anxiety keeping you from moving forward.

This card could also indicate being the recipient of harsh criticism that must be overcome. It’s time to break free from that which cages you in the Eight of Swords, whether through others words or your own self-doubt.
