The Tarot Suit of Swords

Don’t leave home without your sword – your intellect.

Alan Moore

When we think of swords, what comes to mind? It’s a weapon that can cut both ways, it can give the bearer power, in this steel blade can be cold as ice. That pretty much sums up swords in Tarot readings. if the suit of cups represents actions based on the heart, swords definitely represent actions and circumstances based on the head, or intellect, rather than feelings.

Like wands, swords are a card of action, but in a colder, more calculating way. in the positive sense, swords show a sharp intellect that can balance that with the power it brings. In the not so good sense, there is the potential for tyranny and violence resulting from poor judgment. and it’s very worst, swords can represent cruelty, and caution us to choose our words and battles carefully.
