X – The Wheel of Fortune Tarot Card

Life has its ups and downs, and we all seem to be a slave to the Wheel of Fortune tarot card. But do we really have to be?

We have no control of the curves life throws us — except through avoiding accumulating more negative karma — but we can control how we react to them. You probably know someone who takes every unexpected turn in their life and makes it worse by blowing things out of proportion and turning up the drama. They live on a non-stop rollercoaster moving from one crisis or windfall to the next.

Yeah, the highs are great, but oh, the price you may pay for them. Instead of being caught up on the outer edge of the Wheel of Fortune with the greatest highs and lows, we can try to keep ourselves to the center, or the hub of the wheel. Sure, the Wheel of Fortune keeps turning, but we feel the effects a lot less from a place of being centered in the hub.

Which is to say, recognize that neither the good nor the bad lasts forever, and practice the serenity prayer. To paraphrase: change what you can change, accept what can’t be changed, and know the difference between the two.

The Wheel of Fortune tarot card also represents karma, or what goes around comes around. What you put out in the world will come back to you so you better do your best to put your best out into the world.

Also recognize that some things take time and life has cycles like seasons, so the Wheel of Fortune tarot card can represent a change in the cycles or seasons of your life.
