Page of Swords

I subscribe to the idea by Christiana Gaudet that the Pages are learners in their particular suit (along with the pursuers, nurturers, and leaders of the other court cards.) By that standard then, the Page of Swords is a young person just beginning to learn about intellectual pursuits or philosophy and appears carefree in the card, with sunny skies and the breeze blowing through his or her hair. (Pages can be thought of as feminine as well as masculine.)

Since pages tend to be more learners than doers, the Page of Swords sometimes is thought of as sort of a watcher or a spy, taking note of things going on around him for future reference or use. Absorbing the environment, if you will, and standing his ground for the time being.
